Profile
Welcome to my website. I specialise in ecological modelling of marine and coastal systems. My work bridges academic research and applied consultancy, with a focus on sustainable aquaculture, water quality management, and ecosystem-based approaches to environmental challenges.
I serve as Chief Scientific Officer at Longline Environment, a company developing radical aquaculture technology, and am a Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at FCT-NOVA (Faculty of Sciences and Technology, New University of Lisbon).
Professional Activity
My professional activity encompasses teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, research supervision, and applied research in ecological modelling of marine systems. This work integrates fundamental science with practical applications for environmental management and policy.
Through our research outcomes, we undertake projects for private and public companies, as well as government clients across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Our approach combines rigorous scientific methodology with stakeholder engagement to deliver solutions that are both technically sound and practically implementable.
